Whilst we argue about ai
Nuclear reactors are set to explode
Making free energy very possible
Saudi Arabia now produces solar electricity for Rs 1 per kWh. Driving the boom are Chinese solar modules which sell for USD 0.06 per watt. Essentially a USD 0.06 panel produces 8 kWh per annum. Less than 0.01 usd per kWh if we recover panel cost in a year.
At least that is the theory. But that’s not what happens in practice. In the real world you need land, epc costs, govt taxes etc. in the end it costs Rs 2.5 crores to set up a MW of solar capacity. And takes 2.5 acres of land. And it gives you power for 6 hours a day. If you want power for the balance 18 hours, you will need 20 mwh of batteries and another 4 mw of solar. This will cost another 10 cr for solar equipment plus another 10 acres of land and Rs 6 crores of batteries. In the end you will need over Rs 20 crores capcost to get 1 mw on 24/7 basis. Plus u will need 12.5 acres of land.
Worse you will need to wire the power from where the solar plant is to where the customer is. That could cost another 2-3 crores. All told assume Rs 25 crores. And solar power will cost the consumer closer to Rs 10 per kWh. Want to charge your car ? And u will pay Rs 24 per kWh.
Now nuclear will only cost Rs 14 crores per MW. It will work 24/7 and comes filled with five years of fuel. It needs no land or batteries. and it can be 100% indigenous. So no Chinese imports.
The regulations will soon allow these and maybe you could buy one to replace the diesel generator in your factory. It will take a lot less space and be relatively silent. The waste heat from the plant can drive an air conditioner and you could cool an entire building using the waste heat. This would save you another 1 MW of power used for cooking. In effect for Rs 14 crores u would get 2 MW.
There is nothing cheaper and greener and indigenous and distributed out there.
Nuclear will triumph solar
And make it irrelevant.
And to the same to wind or hydel.
Nuclear holds the promise for abundant free electricity and unlimited cooling or water desalination.
But India is not the only country doing it. Like we have ionique in India with a 3 MW nano reactor, USA has radiantnuclear.com with an almost identical product. With one difference. Whilst ionique uses thorium, Radiant uses uranium.
