Davos is the most significant meeting venue for meetings that don’t matter.
For those that do, it is the meetings of the secret orders. These are neither open to sponsorships nor to the politically powerful. Because for these secret orders, the so called leaders are just hirelings and the so called promoters are fronts. True power is vested through financial vehicles. And Blackrock or Blackstone are just sub funds. And one of the places where it is vested is Switzerland. And location is the only commonality between events (circuses) and decisions (secret orders).
For the rest, there is Davos
But whilst we are on the circus called WEF Davos – some entertainment is in order. None of it is original. It is all copied stuff floating around. So skip if you have already seen many of these.

Davos has four official languages. Regulars speak a fifth. Davosian.
It sounds like optimism.
It signals ambition.
And it often means… something else entirely.
Some useful translations:
• “The need for an impartial platform for dialogue has never been greater” in davosian
→ in English it would be. We’ll always find a reason to do Davos.
• “Humanity has entered a new era of possibility”
→ It’s January and time for a holiday disguised as work.
• “Our excitement about the energy transition doesn’t reject tested technologies”
→ We’re investing billions in oil.
• “Leaders are ready to deliver at scale”
→ I work for McKinsey.
• “This is the moment of India”
→ I’d like Indian clients.
• “It’s not about less regulation, it’s about smarter regulation”
→ It’s about less regulation.
• “Davos gives distance from day-to-day pressures”
→ I just announced layoffs and needed to disappear.
Mastering Davosian has benefits:

Whether it’s enough to get your Davos expenses approved… remains an open question.
Sometimes the most important skill at global forums isn’t leadership or vision —
it’s fluency in euphemism.
There is no issue to be resolved at Davos.
There actually never was.
But the pretence was strong.
This year there is no pretence
And that really is a new trend
