I believe both the Kerala CM and the Tata group PR are issuing a statement that there is no plan to invest Rs 10,000 crore in shipbuilding.

What is important is to understand the over zealousness of states to compete not to build real projects but to make PR announcements.

Whilst there can be a typographic error at the govt end where a Rs 10 crore proposed investment in boat building gets reported as a Rs 10,000 cr investment in ship building – what are the media groups doing. Someone should be doing a sanity check on what they are printing.

How is it that there was no denial by the Tatas. The only person concerned seems to have been the down to earth ECHT who did not want to be part of any subsidy scam by the Tatas.
