Ai is finally what Ai does
The results of the India AI hackathon were quite a pleasant surprise. Though I was one of eleven jury members in a contest which promised each of the three winners a UsD 2 million cheque – none of the jury members had access to score sheets of the others.
The final winners are mintuition, leagle Ai and Koxoy. Each had a unique story, real technology and working systems on display.
Mintuition is an emotional intelligence ai technology stack. So if a cctv feed of a crying baby is fed to it – it will revert on why the baby is crying – he is hungry, has wet his diapers or is in pain. If the feed from a retail store entry is fed in, the system will tell you what the intent of the entering person is – window shopping., buying, stealing or exploring. If a classroom is monitored, it will tell you which students are distracted for the teacher to take corrective action. They also connect with neuralink sensors. So a film editor can gauge if the horror scene is scary enough.
Leagle ai which is short for legal eagle is quite dangerous. It can concurrently read the audio and video of a court judge and arguing lawyer to gauge if the judge is compromised. It can also do things like determine which lawyer is successful with which judge and what kind of biases the judge has. It can assess the difference between natural bias, judgement stress or compromised integrity.
Koxoy prices risk. It can price any kind of insurance based on mass scanning of insurance policies and claims. So it can use Monte Carlo simulation and ai to predict success of a movie before it is even made. It can estimate human lifespan. And based on that – sickness and death – insurance can be priced. Koxoy is also willing to underwrite startups. Which means that if a startup fails, Koxoy will reimburse the venture capitalist. Koxoy is even willing to do keyman insurance. The company issues surety bond for all kinds of tenders relating to sale and purchase of goods and services. It is willing to insure lending risks.
All these three go beyond the boundaries of a conventional foundational model and essentially do what a regular human cannot do. Leagle esp could play a very corrective role for cleaning up the judiciary at all levels. It could compress an advanced lie detector machine to an app in a phone. Dangerously it could also allow you to lie to fool a lie detector test.
All of these are dual use technologies which at some level decimate conventional trust. They also challenge conventional wisdom. What do you do if ai says a judge is biased, opinionated and compromised ? Can you sack him merely on ai suspicion (or machine intuition). If an ai suspects you to be a murderer, should you be arrested in anticipation. If yes, under what section of the criminal code.
Ai answers questions.
But probably raises many more.
