Drive thru becomes Charge Thru.
Wire free EV chargers : 3 mins
Go Powers architecture changes all.
Startups and worship worthy promoters intrigue me no end. Radical innovation comes from the most unlikely of places. Today I got to see a preview of the Drive thru charging station. No wires. No payment. Three startups – Go Power (next gen ionique battery), Evitor (one of India’s largest EV charging networks) & Ionique (NextGen EVs) – have demonstrated a modified Mahindra XE9, Kia EV6 and BYD Sealion 7 getting charged from 20% to 50% in under 3 minutes. Completely wirelessly using agentic ai for the handshake and control. The driver literally does nothing other than order a burger and pay for it. For the demo they build their own mock McDonald complete with a fryer and burger patties.
GO power just flipped the paradigm.
To build a super battery, super cheap
Ground up for rapid wirefree charging.
What is radical is not the storage or the charger but how they have coupled the battery with an inductive charger at 1500V/ 85 kHz /150 Amp. And created the electronics for this in India.
They just destroyed the battery swapping industry irrevocably.
A single station can charge 15 cars a hour. And do it with off grid solar. Or with a 25 KW grid connection.
It goes back to why a EV charger should look like a petrol pump with a hose when there is no petrol involved. This is digital, not physical. Charges just like an iPhone does.
We’re building massive concrete pads, installing fragile pedestals, and forcing drivers to deviate from their routes to sit and wait. A 20th-century solution to a 21st-century problem. The charge thru works at 85 KHz, not 50 Hz like our home AC power.
If we want to actually solve the EV and Autonymi transition, we have to stop thinking about “Where do we stop?” and start asking “Why are we stopping at all?”
The future isn’t a plug. It’s a charging side lane. Or a Park n Charge. And it is more efficient than a wired charger. The vehicle itself with a GO battery and solar aircon has a higher range because of better regen.
The Inefficient Truth:
• The “Battery Tax”: We are forcing EVs to carry the weight and cost of 1,000lb “range anxiety” batteries that they only actually need 5% of the time.
• The Grid Bottleneck: Plugging in 50 shared taxis at one depot causes a grid crisis.
• The Infrastructure Trap: Pedestals break, cables get cut, and real estate is too expensive to scale.
The Go Evitor Ionique alternative is Static/Dynamic switchable Wireless Power Transfer.
This looks like 12 months to market and is at TRL7. And it’s completely Indian.
1. Infinite Range: You don’t “refuel.” You just drive.
2. 0% Lithium: this is a storage battery built from waste.
3. Continuous Logistics: A fleet that never stops to charge is a fleet that can run 24/7
The “McDonald Charge Thru” isn’t science fiction—it is ready to roll on NE4 from delhi to mumbai
