The Global Economy

GDP is an obsolete metric
The real value creation and addition
Will happen in the Megaspheres

Statistics can be very misleading. Averages even more so. I could drop a Colombian drug lord into an Indian slum and the average income of that slum cluster may become higher than London.

GDP is a faulty measure of affluence because it measures activity, not well-being. Here’s the clean way to see it:

1. GDP counts cost, not comfort

GDP rises when money is spent—even if the spending fixes problems.

Traffic jams → more fuel used → GDP ↑
Pollution → healthcare costs → GDP ↑

Affluence, however, is about needing less, not spending more to repair damage.

2. It ignores distribution

Two countries can have the same GDP per capita. Yet the distribution of wealth may be very different.

GDP cannot tell the difference, but lived affluence depends on distribution, not averages.

3. It ignores free and low-cost abundance

When technology makes things cheaper or free:
• Open-source software
• Free digital services
• AI replacing expensive labor

GDP may stagnate or fall, even as real living standards improve dramatically.

4. It rewards inefficiency

If a country needs:
• More doctors per patient
• More teachers per student
• More energy per unit of output

GDP looks higher—but true efficiency and affluence are lower.

Affluence is about output per unit of effort, not total spending.

5. It misses time, convenience, and quality

GDP does not capture:
• Time saved
• Reduced stress
• Reliability
• Ease of access

A society where things “just work” can look poorer on GDP but be far richer in daily life.

6. It fails in an AI-driven world

AI increases:
• Productivity
• Automation
• Zero-marginal-cost services

This creates massive surplus value that GDP systematically undercounts.

👉 In the AI era, affluence decouples from monetary flow.

The core insight

GDP measures how hard an economy works.
Affluence measures how little it needs to.

This is why new ideas—frugality indices, consumption efficiency, time-to-outcome metrics—matter far more than GDP in the coming ai age.

Life is no longer lived in the physical world. It is moving to the Megaspheres – a mythical world which combines several spheres of existence – from the physical to the spiritual and the virtual to the metaphysical. This opens up a whole new range of possibilities.

Yesterday I met a startup selling designer dreams. They are trying to help people experience a dream of their choice. With content of their choice. So you could tour the city of London or spend a honeymoon with a person of your choice. All instantly with no need for off time or travel costs. It just demolishes our whole concept of experiences. It is 3d, multi sensory and participative. A 3D movie is the scene from a window. Here u can be the lead actor.

Few can comprehend such developments. Till you get to experience them.
