What is the end game with Pakistan ??
It is a question without any clear answer. But maybe one should start with a set of hypotheses and analyse which of them could come true and when.
China holds the global supply as ransom.
USA holds the global demand as ransom.
Taiwan holds semiconductor capacity as ransom.
India held the services supply as ransom. But the key is the past tense “held”
Middle East holds energy supply as ransom.
What does Pakistan hold ?? Unlike Dubai, it is not even good in money laundering or tourism. It lacks a solid industrial base. It has no tourist destinations. It has a weak economy. It has scant natural resources. It lacks basic infrastructure.
For a minute step back to the creation of TIE (the Indus entrepreneurs). The cofounder Kanwal Reiki was born in Pakistan. Incidentally, many Pakistanis were born in India as well. Every single Indian who has been to Pakistan has loved the hospitality. The Pakistanis – not so much – but then hardly any get to visit India. Some of my school friends from Mumbai including Irshad Mamsa now live and work in Pakistan.
The Indians and Pakistanis share common culture and common bonding in USA or UK or Australia or even Singapore. There is no real difference.
Pakistan has no business model. It didn’t ever have one. It was loot and export dictatorial government. India was bad but not that bad.
What India did is to leave some helpless Indians in what is now “Pakistan controlled India”. There is nothing called Pakistan. It was a word coined in 1930 by merging Punjab, Kashmir, Afganistan, Sindh etc. There is no historical place called Pakistan. It is just an enslaved set of Indians in a no man’s land.
Pakistan has made a business out of its location. The state continued subjugating its population by keeping a war going on all sides. And then it become a US and Chinese colony.
But then China and USA ceased to be friends. And Pakistan got stuck inbetween.
Now it is a confused state. With no business other than the business of war to survive. Iran is their latest lottery. But now with China exiting and America stuck more badly than ever before, look at what is happening:

America is trying to prop up the Pakistan currency. Which they allowed to collapse to bring them to their knees:
It is a matter of time before we have a free trade agreement with Pakistan and the end of animosity. The borders may not open up but economic integration is inevitable.
