Computing without a computer
Is the death knell for Android & Apple
As well as for telcos

One of my earlier posts spoke of incumbency being a liability. BSNL could not lead in mobile telephony. Kodak could not lead in digital cameras. Toyota could not lead in electric cars. IBM could not lead in personal computers. HP could not lead in smartphones.

Extrapolate this to every industry likely to be impacted by ai. Let’s start with Android and Apple. These are not just companies. They are the worlds largest data thieves. They know more about each user than anyone else does. And the customer willingly gives them all their data and even pays to acquire their locked proprietary devices. Millions make a living selling apps or groceries on their platform. The telcos connect all these devices to each other.

Telcos and smartphone makers are going to be among the early casualties of ai. Free energy will catalyse it. The humongous ai data centres will obliterate whatever is left.

My iPhone runs android. My android phone runs iOS. It does so by installing the CyberKyro app. And the app doesn’t install through play store or the App Store. It can be installed directly. My iPhone 4 runs Netflix, WhatsApp and even autocad. And it does so perfectly well on satellite provided internet. It works even better on the Go Aero pseudo satellite which flies 25 kms above the surface of earth and connects me directly to a data centre.

I no longer need Apple, Android or Airtel. Cyberkyro is in beta. As is Ai. The pseudo satellite itself runs a stack called hdvsl. Most haven’t heard of it. It is kind of ancient – it was code developed in the early nineties that got used for thin clients. Then it was used to run PC on TV using a set top box like computer.

Over thirty five years the code developed. A startup called Transmeta used this Ibdian code to build a computer that used a software cpu. Transmeta was promoted by Torvald who invented Linux. Intel killed it by investing in it. Sony build ultra compact laptops using the Transmeta Crusoe chipset. I bought one in 2001. I still use it. It does video editing and runs windows. Sony themselves could not last. And Sony Vaio ceased to exist. My laptop still works. Without a intel or apple or amd chip in it.

When conditions precedent are met – inventions erupt. The one most prepared is the first to the finish line.

Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness. We have bad luck. It happens when you are prepared and there is no opportunity. Or if you are not prepared. But there is nothing called good luck. It helps to study in a IIT for example. But that again is a manifestation of hard work. Finally there is no short cut.

The bad news is that nothing happens in a hurry. Apple, android and airtel will all die. But not tomorrow. Incumbency takes time. The Transmeta crusoe chip rode on Arm. Arm is now more valuable than Intel. Nvidia was around even then. It got lucky.

The future is scary.
Fasten your seat belts.
