The Pope has come up with a 38,000 word encyclical on Ai. Here is the complete document and is well worth a read.
An interesting document to compare and contrast this with is the megaspheres orientation of the IIT Alumni Council which has been under development for over 5 years and has injested a few million hours of IIT Alumni intellectual time making it probably the most worked upon report in human history aggregated remotely. Here is the link:
Comparison of the two documents done by six different ai throws up something very interesting;
– Megaspheres is a civilisational orientation. It challenges the basic doctrine of survival of the fittest head on. It looks beyond control and power. It understands interconnectedness. And thus the need for a holistic approach.
– The Popes Encyclical on the other hand is a five chapter document that is best summarised by this post by Dipak Gupta :
Over a year ago, a nationwide consultation and a call for proposals yielded several thousand responses. The media widely covered the call:
The Popes document is quite an overlap with the summary of inputs in response to this public notice.
Of course the comparison and the subject deserves more thought and space than this rather perfunctory overview.
Which is in the next post.
